Military Service & Experience

Served in the Indian Army for four decades. Participated in the India-Pakistan wars of 1965 (Kashmir) and 1971 (Western Theatre). During the Kargil War of 1999 he was in-charge of the entire China front in Arunachal Pradesh.

Served extensively in the North East combating insurgency in Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Combated terrorism as Brigadier in Punjab, as Major General in Kashmir, and as Lt. General in Assam and other parts of North East India.

Served at Army Headquarters, New Delhi as Deputy Director General and Additional Director General of Military Operations. Member of the Joint Working Group dealing with the India-China boundary dispute and the drafting team of the Peace and Tranquility Agreement signed during the Prime Ministership of Shri Narsimha Rao.

Forced a record 1,267 terrorists in Kashmir (trained in Afghanistan and Pakistan) to give up terrorism and lead a normal life.
